Dwarf Pink Oleander

Dwarf Pink OleanderNerium oleander 'Petite Pink'

Nerium oleander ‘Petite Pink’ is a compact evergreen shrub growing to only 4 feet. This Oleander bears clusters of soft pink 1” blooms with yellow throats from April through November. Oleanders are very drought and salt tolerant once established which makes them an excellent shrub for costal and Xeric plantings.

Dwarf Variegated Ginger

Dwarf Variegated Ginger  Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata'

Alpinia zerumbet has the best foliage in partial sun. Typically this ginger will flower on the second year of growth. This clump forming perennial can grow to be as much as 6 feet tall with a spread of 5 to 10 feet. This is a variegated variety and it tends to be a bit smaller and shorter growing. Variegated Shell Ginger has green foliage with yellow variegation or stripes.

Elaeagnus

Elaeagnus is an evergreen with leathery leaves that are glossy dark green on upper sides then silvery beneath, giving a nice contrast. Elaeagnus is sometimes called Ugly-Agnes because of its wild growth habit, but this shrub can look nice if sheared properly. Elaeagnus is known for its toughness, it can survive and thrive in places many shrubs cannot, such as highway medians. Elaeagnus x ebbingei is a hybrid from E. pungens. E. x ebbingei is more upright in growth an has no thorns on the branches. This shrub has tiny, fragrant, white flowers and the fruit is sometimes used to make jelly. It can grow to be up to 10-12 feet tall.

Fashion Azalea

Fashion AzaleaAzalea 'Fashion'

Azalea 'Fashion' is a Glenn Dale hybrid. Glenn Dale hybrids are evergreen, semi-dwarf, and have bigger and more colorful flowers than Azalea in the Southern Indian group. The Fashion Azalea has a salmon-pink colored flower that is 2 inches in diameter. It is a medium sized shrub that reaches up to 6 feet in height with an equal spread. Like all Azaleas, Fashion Azalea does best on an acidic soil.

Formosa Azalea

In the Southern Indian or Indica group of Azaleas. These Azaleas are spring blooming and the foliage is evergreen. These Azaleas have an upright growth habit and are the best choice for a high light area. The Formosa has beautiful magenta deep colored flowers that grow profusely during the spring. The flowers are 3 inches in diameter, Azalea indica 'Formosa' can get up to 6-8 feet in height and does best on acidic soils.

G.G. Gerbing Azalea

Azalea indica 'G.G. Gerbing' is in the Southern Indian or Indica group of Azaleas. These Azaleas are spring blooming and the foliage is evergreen. These Azaleas have an upright growth habit and are the best choice for a high light area. The G.G. Gerbing Azalea has a pure white single flower that can reach 3" in diameter, this Azalea blooms profusely during the spring.

Heavenly Bamboo

Evergreen shrub in the Southern states, Compacta is lower growing than the species and has more numerous leaflets giving it a lacey appearance. Nandina domestica 'Compacta' blooms in the spring and the new flush of growth is coppery in color. Foliage turns green in the summer. In the fall Nandina 'Compacta' produces a show of red berries and the foliage turns a reddish-purple color.

Holly Fern

This group of plants are most definitely shade loving plants that require adequate, if not more than adequate, amounts of water for best performance in the landscape. Most prefer damp, moist heavily shady areas but will do well with adequate water in almost any landscape. Some varieties are evergreen, some are semi-evergreen and some are deciduous. Crytomium falcatum is considered semi-evergreen meaning that it can be deciduous in colder climates. Holly Fern has spreading, glossy, dark green fronds that can reach a height of 18 to 30 inches.

Japanese Aralia

The Japanese Aralia is a fast growing evergreen that is native to Japan and South Korea, this shrub can reach 5-12 feet in height and width. Fatsia japonica produces large, dark green, deeply lobed leaves. From fall through winter umbels of small whitish flowers grow are seen which are then followed by clusters of small round black fruit. Older more established plants will spread by suckering at the base. Japanese Aralia is a good landscape choice for a tropical look.

These Azaleas have an upright growth habit and are the best choice for a high light area. Judge Soloman Azalea has a single pink flower 3 inches in diameter and has an average height of 4 to 6 feet.
