Gaura lindheimeri
Siskiyou Pink Whirling Butterflies
Gaura lindheimeri
is native to the Mexico-USA border area, it forms a clump and
reaches up to 4 feet in height and 3 feet in width. Whirling Butterflies has a
very long flowering period (from mid spring to autumn). 'Siskiyou Pink' is an
improved variety from Siskiyou Nursery with a deeper pink colored flower, white
stamens, and more compact growth habit. The toothed leaves are red tinged on
slender stems with a spoon-shape or lance shape. This plant likes a well-drained
soil and full sun, though it will tolerate some shade and drought conditions due
to its deep tap root. But wait it also tolerates humidity, wow! Will bloom from
early summer to fall and grow to a height of 30-36" tall and should be spaced at
24" apart.
